CONTACT INFORMATION

The matriculation for any of our courses automatically implies acceptance of the following General Conditions, be it via the school directly or via agents or collaborators of the Escuela Mediterráneo.

The Price
The price includes: the course and accommodation, certificates from the Escuela Mediterráneo, certain free activities.
The price does not include optional excursions, learning material, books and tarriffs for official ELE exams. In the case of taking this exam and other extras not specifically included in the price.

Matriculation
You can do so by phone, mail, fax, or via our agencies and collaborators abroad. Once your matriculation is received we shall send you a confirmation of the course and accommodation selected.

Deposit
Once the confirmation for the course and accommodation has been received you should make a transfer of €90, only if matriculating directly with the school, as a deposit to our account:

Once the deposit is received, you shall be sent a detailed bill for the course and accommodation and they shall be confirmed as definite.

Method of Payment
The remainder of the price may be paid at the school, on the first of classes, in cash or via credit card.
In case of credit card payment, an extra 1.5% will be charged, due to bank charges.
Another option is to make the complete payment via bank transfer to our account. In case of a transfer we need a copy of the transfer receipt. The student must assume responsibility for costs accrued from bank transfers.

Extensions
Once the course has started, students have the option to extend the course and/or accommodation. To do so, the students must inform the school, at least a week in advance.

Cancellations
A cancellation, in order to be eligible for refund, should only be sent by fax, e-mail or certified letter. The date printed on the fax, e-mail or letter will determine the date of cancellation.
If it arrives three weeks prior to the start of the course/accommodation, the deposit will be returned minus 20% for administration costs. If the cancellation occurs within three weeks before 20% of the deposit will be refunded and if cancelled after the course has begun there will be no right to any refund.
If the course and accommodation are cancelled once they have begun, the cost of this shall not be refunded.
For students who book their course and /or accommodation through a Language Agency, all details related to payments and cancellations should be made through their agents.
The agreement between the three parties (Agent, Escuela Mediterráneo and Student), should remain in written form, be it by fax, e-mail or letter. The Agent is the only one responsible for refunds in this case.

Accommodation
For those students who reserve accommodation through the School, they shall be notified of the address, at least a week before the start of the course.
The School does not guarantee the accommodation to be close to the School’s location.
The accommodation shall be available from 12h00 of the day before the start of the course, until 12h00 of the day after the end of the course.
The accommodation in families or residencies, includes the bedroom and breakfast. Other general services like laundry, shall be paid for separately.
The Escuela Mediterráneo reserves the right to change accommodation of a double room to a single if deemed necessary. Also to charge for extra cleaning, electtricity consumption or breakages, when deemed necessary, due to misuse of these by the students.
Students shall bring their own sheets and towels.
School employees are free to inspect the apartments at any moment, and in case of any irregularity in the use of such amenities (for example others living in the property that are not students of the school, without permission and knowledge of the school). If any serious irregularity (according to the school) is discoveredall the students of the accommodation in question shall be penalised by having to leave the accommodation one night before the agreed date established in the matriculation.

Classes
The class timetables can be both in the morning or the afternoon depending solely on academic reasons and the type of course.
The School reserves the right to change the timetables or the groups, informing the students always with at least one hour’s notice.

Levels
The students will do a level test, the first day of class, to find out their grammar and conversation level. The Head of Studies, shall assign them a group and class timetable, once the test is corrected.

Formation of groups
The maximum number of students per class is eight. The School reserves the possibility of increasing the number to ten per class, if deemed necessary by the Organisation.
The minimum number in a group is set at three students, in the case that the group does not reach this number of students, Mediterráneo reserves the right to reduce the hours as follows:
- If there’s only 2 students, the groups of 4 daily classes shall be reduced to 3. The groups of 6 daily classes shall be reduced to 4.
- If there’s only 1 student, the groups of 4 daily classes shall be reduced to 2. The groups of 6 daily classes shall be reduced to 3.

Fiestas (Bank Holidays)
On autonomous, provincial and local holidays, as noted  on our web site, there will be no class of any kind, and no way of claiming a refund from the cost of the course or the rearrangement of classes from a holiday to a working day. If in a week there are 2 holidays, on one there’ll be classes and not on the other.

Attendance
In the case that students do not take part in the classes of their Spanish, they cannot register complaints, clam refunds, nor extra class hours.
Long term students with payments pending, should pay the total amount, even if they are not going to finish the course.

Minimum age
The minimum demanded to participate in a private course is 16. There is no maximum age limit. In the case of minors accompanied by a tutor, there is no age limit.

Groups for activities
The minimum number to do a flamenco dance course or sporting activity is 3 people.

Rights
The School is not responsible for damages suffered by students, due to errors in printed information or on our web site, or third parties or circumstances beyond our control.
The School also reserves the right to change information, contents and prices of programs during the present year, informing those students in advance who may be affected by such changes.

Insurance
The school recommends its students to bring a fully comprehensive international insurance, or at least one for cancellation and repatriation, accidents, damages to third parties and robbery. For students from the EU countries an E-111 document is necessary. The school, in any case, can arrange medical insurance for non-EU students and those that need medical insurance for obtaining and renewing visas.
Escuela Mediterráneo reserves the right to change or modify the contents of the General Conditions without prior notice. In case of cancellation of any course by the School, the student shall receive the amount paid up to that point.

Students’ Obligations
The student is responsible for attending their Spanish course and for their choice of course and/or accommodation, that corresponds to their interests and needs. The student should attend all classes regularly, be punctual and participate in class. In the case of irregular attendance or behaviour that breaks up or disrupts the development of the Course and/or  the cohabitation and accommodation rules, Escuela Mediterráneo, reserves the right to expel the student from the Course and/or the accommodation. In this case, the money paid shall not be returned, nor shall they receive compensation of any sort. The student should attend, at least 70% of the length of the Course, to receive the final Certificate of Attendance and Aptitude.
The students should be aware that both Spanish food and way of life can be different to that of their own country, for which they ought to  be flexible on these aspects. The students commits himself to respect the  the customs of manners, the laws of the country and the rules of the School. In the case of serious lack of discipline such as theft, alcoholism, use of drugs, etc, the student shall be expelled not only from the School but also the country. The costs of travel back to their country, and the damages caused, shall be met by the student, their family or legal guardian.

Applied Law, Jurisdiction
In these General Regulations, the only Laws that shall be applied are those stipulated by Spanish Jurisdiction.

Acceptance
Participation of students in the School’s programs demonstrates that, both the students themselves, and their parents or legal guardians (in case of students being minors), are fully informed of the General Conditions and totally accept them.

Coming into force
These  General Conditions, take effect from the 1st January of 2011, and invalidate any other General Conditions, published on paper or on Internet.
